I tested war2 on a Windows 8.1 64-bit computer with a Intel GPU and didn't have any problems. From what I've researched so far, it looks like this problem occurs on AMD GPU's after a driver update. You may have recently received a driver update through Windows update that caused the problem. Also includes the classic WC2 maps that come packaged with the game.
